About

I am a Lecturer in Media at City St George’s, University of London. My research sits at the intersection of digital media, culture and work, with a particular interest in creator cultures, platforms, gender and digital labour.

I completed my PhD in Sociology at the University of Cambridge. My doctoral research examined the everyday experiences of women influencers on Instagram and Xiaohongshu (RedNote), exploring how creators navigate platform economies, algorithmic visibility, gendered expectations and changing forms of creative work.

More broadly, I am interested in how people make sense of, negotiate and sometimes resist the social and economic conditions of digital platforms. My research draws on qualitative and digital methods and engages with questions around influencer and creator cultures, platform labour, everyday resistance and digital inequalities.
